In this lesson
- go over the most important points of the whole course
- get ten rules for using Solana safely
- find out where to go next
Congratulations – you now know more about Solana than most people who trade memecoins on it. You know how the network works and what it gives up for speed, how your wallet reads transactions, what is behind the staking yield and why most new tokens collapse within a week. And you know how SOL behaves on the market.
What to take away from the course#
- The network: fast and cheap thanks to powerful hardware, a leader schedule and Proof of History. It pays for that with fewer validators and a history of outages.
- SOL: no fixed cap, falling inflation; staking mainly protects your share from dilution.
- The wallet: everything is an account, tokens have their own accounts with a refundable deposit, and one signature can approve many instructions at once.
- Staking: native staking is simple and your SOL stays yours; liquid staking adds liquidity and risks.
- DeFi and memecoins: the price in a pool depends on liquidity, slippage invites bots and the vast majority of memecoins die.
- The market: SOL swings about twice as much as Bitcoin, moves with it and has already fallen 80% or more twice.
Ten rules#
- Never type your seed phrase anywhere unless you need to restore the wallet.
- Keep savings in a hardware wallet and experiments in a separate wallet.
- Read the transaction preview before signing. If you do not understand it, do not sign.
- Ignore unsolicited tokens and NFTs and do not click their links.
- You recognise a token by its mint address, not by its name and logo.
- For an unknown token, check the authorities, holders and liquidity – and try selling a small amount.
- Keep slippage low and watch price impact on big trades.
- Keep a little SOL in your account for fees.
- Choose a validator by commission and reliability and watch whether it raises its commission.
- Put into memecoins only money you consider spent.
What next#
- Want to trade SOL? The Trading with a plan course teaches you market structure, indicators, position size and a trading plan.
- Want to know whether your strategy works? The From idea to tested strategy course shows how to test it honestly.
- You can go over the course's terms any time in the glossary.
The most important thing, last
Solana changes fast – the technology, the inflation and the apps. Nothing in this course is investment advice. SOL can lose most of its value within a few months, as 2022 and 2026 showed. Invest only money you can afford to lose.
Summary
- Solana is a fast network that pays for its speed with centralisation and a history of outages.
- Security rests on the seed phrase, separate wallets and reading transactions before signing.
- Staking protects your share from inflation, not from a price fall; memecoins are a lottery.
- You can continue with the Trading with a plan and From idea to tested strategy courses.
